Heres what im curently workin on. Its the new Audi RS4. Im making it for a car simulator called Racer (racer.nl). Its free and importing cars is reletivly easy. I got like 5000 triangles on the car so far. Ill continue the M3 concept after i finish this.

Looks really good so far, also the ingame picture. Very detailed for a low polygon car.

I just checked the wire and it looks really great, I don't think its messy for a lowpoly model :)
everything was perfect and you can't notice that its lowpoly except for those 2 areas, IMO you should do a few cuts there, no need to complete an edge loop, you can make a tri or any other way since the frame isn't connected to the top as I can see from your first clay image

anyway keep it up man

Thank you. I took aliismail's advice and added more rows of polies to the roof. And made the windows.

your model looks really great can't wait to see it 100% finished and refined

ya rodderworld with next Gen games its hard to call stuff exactly low-poly anymore, polycounts for the body in racing games could be up to 30K so its almost as good as a high-poly

I am doing the koenigsegg ccx in "lowpoly" next gen games lowpoly :) the wireframe is still a miss now will post it as soon as i have something not too embarassing to post

@aliismail

True, it's not exactly low-poly anymore for games but when you see good work like this it's still incredible. I work in a gaming company and we're experimenting to see if youo can just make a normal model remove the mesh smooth and some chamfers and then create a normal-map to make it render right.

The model looks very good. If it`s high poly lowpoly model then maybe you should chamfer the waistline, right now it looks a bit too sharp. Will you be making 3d bodylines?

I think it will render just right, I tried with some even very lowpoly stuff to project the highres mesh into it by normal mapping and it was fine, but you might need to check which will be more efficient doing it like this or just making it in a higher number of polys

now come on S.O.A.D. add the few remaining details and show it off with a color you like, it was an amazing project :buttrock:

that looks nice, man :)

makes me want to start all over since mine is gone now :(

Are you planning on keeping the hard body lines hard, or are you going to double/triple edge them? What polycount are you going for exactly? Is it going to have an interior?

ya the edges are gona stay like this. Im gona have a GT4 style interior and a HQ one for behind the wheel driving. I cant make it too high poly cuz racer's graphics engine isnt soo up to date and it will lag.

Im looking forward to seeing the final product. What do you render with? Where are you from?

Hey man, looks really good! I'm very impressed with the softness you've been able to put in it eventhough it's lowpoly.

The car seems too long for me, allmost like an A6, but that could be just the camera.

Anyways, as I said, this is impressive!

Are you interested in modeling vehicles for video games or do you just do it as a hobby?

I don't know what slice56 is up to but S.O.A.D.'s work is worthy of a job offer. If where i worked wasn't so poor we'ld hire him.

hey SOAD, this is a veery accurate low-model!! respect mate!

two small notes: please take a second look at the rims, i think they should be slightly more round to the inside like a lily (flower). And second, the grill has a much rounder profile as i can remeber.

whats your polgon-count goal for the whole car?

regards
Tee

I was just curious as to what SOAD was doing professionally ;) Also, we might be hiring car people soon here at Rockstar. If anyone is interested, you might want to check out Rockstar Jobs (http://www.rockstargames.com/jobs/showjobs.php?studio=RSSD). It doesnt say anything about vehicle artists on there, but you can check out requirements for getting a job here. SOAD, Ill PM you later on....Do you have a resume you could send me? is the tail light texture final or are you going to model the insides of the headlights/tail lights? it would be a nice detail ;)

Tonn

Your rear spoiler bottom blends into the trunk too smoothly, the edge should be a bit more defined (except on the centre of the car), this mistake makes the rearlights look weirdly bent at the top.

hey soad thats very accurate and nice, (especially for the round shapes of an audi!)
i think the texturing is no problem for you! :)

im sorry, i havent read the whole thread, is there a special reason for doing that car, maybe a game model? what about the polycount whats your limit?

cya dan :)
