ok now, i've been working in maya for incomplete 3 years now. i'd like to get more effort into cars, rendering and VFX, so i was wondering, there are better programs for modeling than maya so i was thinking on trying out something else aswell.
also, the thing is that there aren't so many companies that deal with maya in my country. i'm not planning on quitting maya, but what else would you recommend?

None of these new main 3D packages can be picked up in an afternoon - so any change will take real time and effort to get the best from. Keep that in mind if it is worth leaving all your knowledge to go to another package - and make sure that the grass REALLY is greener before trying a switch.
Apart from job/contract/work requirements the best package is the one YOU find the most comfortable with (not us).
Almost all of the big players have demos to download and try out.
That is the ONLY way to make YOUR mind up about this.
Try also Max, XSi, C4D, MODO etc.
Good luck,
Dave
maya is a preety good app... you could try the apps that are used in your contry
a switch from maya to XSI or modo woudn't be that hard... modo is really cool, but it only has modeling and rendering
like you said... don't quit maya, but if you have time you can learn to work in another app.
here are some links for some modo sites that have video tuts:
-VertexMonkey (http://www.vertexmonkey.com/)
-Luxology (http://www.luxology.com/)
you can get an idea what modo is about from them.
