SWIPS : It is slightly different style modelling the old cars compared to the new ones. I still need to do a new style car ...
I've had a little play with creating the interior (some updates soon), but I'm using my laptop on holiday now and it creeps along with this scene ...:dead: so I haven't been spending much time on it.
Been out driving my real RS2000 instead :buttrock:

There you go dave... yours looks real, mine's very obviously 3D. I am a complete newcomer to 3D work and this was a university assignment. Used box modelling... nurbs seemed too complex for me to use in the short time frame.
Gotta animate it in the next week or so :| I did want it to be as realistic as yours, but didnt know enough and didn't have enough time
Thanks, that is cool for a first model - one of the Zakspeed racing Capris You have the basic profile. It is not an easy shape with the swooping front spoiler and arches.
If you have time, keep refining your model ... could you post link to a wire ? I could then comment more on the model.
As for realism, it is a combination of modelling, lighting and texturing.

hey dave, thanks for your words... here's some wire pics, hope they're good enough... I used mesh smooth on some of the vertices which sorta worked and didnt work. we had two months to make a model from nothing, with no prior knowledge of max, and i wanted to do something as real as yours and as those in the header image of this site... didnt get close, and i dont think i'll have much time to refine this to be honest. but i intend to recreate it from scratch when university isnt bugging me Would be fantastic to model every major part
here's the pics, didnt put them as images cuz they're large in dimensions...

Been so busy lately that I haven't had any time for 3d modelling - but managed to grab a few hours today. I'm starting on the interior. Still early yet, just the upper section of the dashboard done, and a lot more texturing work required ... but not sure how much I will do as most of it will be hidden 99% of the time ...
Anyway, here is the dashboard. The area with the heater controls, switches and radio is not finished yet - and the whole lower part is still to model :
The seats. The standard ones
And with an interior :
EDIT: Changed the dash and seat pics. Hope it is a bit better. But it is a black interior against a black background .. And a new view :

Dave - loving the interior - looks great and the original capri steering wheel too with the RS in the middle -sweet!
composite is good, a bit too much quality in the colours compared to the desat bg but really sweet otherwise. I find a nice trick is to render out 5-10% smaller than the original image your gonna comp into then scale up - that way you get a fine amount of sizing-up-filtering that helps it blend into the orig pic
class stuff tho - If I saw that parked up I'd be having kittens haha!
