I'm currently working on this project - unfortunately, there aren't any decent blueprints on the internet so a lot of it is by eye. This is as far as I have got... Only two chamfered edges so far. But the surfaces are nice and clean.
I'm going to produce some really high quality images from this (If I can get the model looking good enough) of the car in great locations.
Feel free to comment, good and bad. As I say, I've just started and a lot is by eye.
Quite a challenging project you've picked up
It is a shame there aren't any accurate BP's of the new Aston Martins..
I'll be watching how this turns out, good luck!
BTW Can't imagine what will the future Astons look like, i mean how can they keep designing more beautiful cars than they already are?
awesome man, one of mmy favourite cars - I think theres some really good pics of the side on seriouswheels.com, there might be front OR you could go and buy a flight from Stansted, and they have this thing for winning a supercar, and theres a V8 Vantage and an F430 there for pics, though they probs changed the cars by now lol
Nice model so far, really good choice of car. I can't wait to see more !
About modeling with/without blueprints :
I wonder if you're not using any one or if you're using wrong ones and you handle their inaccuracy. I worked with wrong ones for my DB9 (they can be seen on my site, the rear is really too long) and it's far easier to deal with wrong blueprints than working without.
When working without blueprints, you have to make sure very soon during modeling than the global space utilisation is right. And that's pretty difficult because from basic information (such as car width, car length, car height, track width, wheelbase) to a nice body there's a long way to go. For some rare case (external chassis, such as an Ariel Atom II), it's simple, but that's the exception.
Btw, there's a nice looking print at smcars : http://www.smcars.net/forums/aston-m...ge-2006-a.html
I would suggest useing V8 Volante blueprints, I used those, although mine are smaller than 512x512 they are accurate. The prints that tom120934 posted are quite inaccurate.
They side grille look a bit too wobbly, it should look a bit more defined, same with the waistline of the car. Model looks very nice otherwise, judging by your R8 this will be a real eyecandy when it`s finished.
/edit- these prints: http://www.smcars.net/forums/aston-m...te-2006-a.html
The prints that tom120934 posted are quite inaccurate.
That's what I thought. Can you please point out any inaccuracy you see ? I think it will be useful to TTombo and anyone wanting to model this car.
About the print you posted, they clearly came from a patent application. I hope the full size ones will be available shortly. GooglePatents didn't give me them.
@tom120934 - The whole thing is oddly proportioned and off . It looks as if it was traced after some pictures but in that case there`s no appearant effort to fix the perspective. If you look at the front and rear print you can clearly see that both halves are not symmetrical. IMHO it would be best to not use that print in any way because it`s worse to use bps made of pics than it is to use the pics themselves (easier to compensate for perspective).
The prints that I posted came from some Ford publication if I remember correctly. They are a quite old so I wouldn`t have high hopes for a new release.. then again you never know.
I agree with you but using only the side view may be of interest. There's clearly a perspective problem with the front and rear views, but as usual, these are the views which most suffer of that kind problem.
About the prints you posted : here's a bigger version (not high res however and only side and top views) : http://www.leblogauto.com/2005/08/aston_martin_v8.html
