It's lookin good... increase the point density perhaps to get rid of the artifacts. How big is the car? Does it match up with the scene size as being as big as it should be? Or is it 10cm long...

Here's my 2 cents... the overall brightness needs to be increased, but maybe not necessarily on the background, depending on the look you want. I say to add the light from behind, facing the hood, to add another reflection onto the hood.

    Ligting

I reckon you could drag that reflection plane that is in front of the car much closer.

Not sure if Maya has it, but since it shares so much with Max, try using an Architectural Material for these reflection planes. You can push up the self illumination way beyond 100 with these materials. It will start glowing in your scene, but Final Gather has to sit above 250 to look nice.

As for some of the bump/noise of some of the materials, you should go even finer. Sometimes I leave out the noise, simply because one has to (in real life) be vary close to see that these surfaces are actually rough - like scratch resistant plastic surface finishing - have a look at it - it is very fine indeed.

Painted rims look better yes - the model seems pretty accurate, so well done so far, But I know, Lighting is a b....!

Judging from your setup, the black is probably the open area of your set. In your camera setting you can change the environment background color so that any open areas will match. Try either that or enclosing the side completely. Increasing point density will only slow your renders.

hello guys, sorry for my long breake but i had an accident! But now i'm ok and will work,.
I increase my point density and make the environment a little bit darker!
I think thats better for a dark carpaint, but i will hear what you think!!!
I chance the material of the rims, now i have a silver brushes color not polish. For me it looks great, better then chrome!?
But with the environment and the reflection i think it's not 100%.
And thanks for all helpful comments.

ps: i render out with 800 FG and point density of 5000. Anti Alias is 2!!!
    Rendertimes 18min.

rim material is much better man, I like it, but imo the car is merging with the bg too much, you need to make reflections that will follow the car shapes, so it will be more visible on the dark background

the render is getting better but it still needs some work. maybe some highlights on the background would help the car stand out?

    regards,
