    Viewport Background Alignment problem

    Hi Guys,

I am very much a newb at 3ds Max, and I have stumbled across a problem I had about a year back which drove me crazy. Basically what happens is, I have a background image and align it etc then when I lock the zoom/pan function the background jumps out of place. This drove me up the wall in version 9 and it's back in 2010, i eventually just dropped 3ds max for blender.

Anyway any help would be appreciated as I am quite eager to overcome this problem and get on with learning.

    Thanks in Advance

    welcome to the forum

if you don't need to have the picture directly on the background, map it on a plane or sphere if it's 360°

i can remember that when you lock it comes back to the origin or something like that (scale may be wrong too sometimes), and there's nothing to do about it...

using mapped planes is THE unique solution...

I have had similar problems taking that route to model, I have tried resetting the viewport's background settings and it seems to fix it, until it happens again!

So I eventually dropped that way of working and started setting up image planes and used them for reference, its the better way If you ask me, Since you are new to 3D here's a link to help you out, I recommend it: http://www.the-blueprints.com/tutori...e/KXtli_raFU0/
