I'm working on some parts of the veyron where i think it could be better made in solidworks. But my biggest problem is converting it from solidworks format to 3ds max. It always fucks it up, so are there any experienced users here who have a good solution?
I know there are some cuz it was briefly brung up at my reventon thread.
There are many way, each with different levels of success. if I remember correctly, importing them into Rhino then exporting them through that to 3ds max works quite well.
Otherwise I think Max can open stl files but then you have to spend forever cleaning up the mesh.

thank you for your quick reply, i don't have rhino, but maybe i have to check that out. About stl, i know, i spend forever getting the numbers right, and still it fucks me sideways.
Yes, what DaveCox said is true. I use the exact same method.
But the only problem is, when you make for example a fillet or champfer on a box corner it will be treated as an separated object, and you have to groupe those.
So, what in SW looks like a single object in 3DS max is not.
Does anyone have a solution for this, or is making a new group in 3DS max the only way?
DaveCox, by the way, is it possible to see your Rhino .3ds export settings?
