I'm making MP4-12C by using CATIA-V5.
I think the base shape to be finished though some work is still necessary for detailed part.
Because the reference photo is few, it is difficult to understand the shape of the diffuser etc.
I want to see a real one.
I like Hypershot. It is easy and quick.
On the WEB site of Bunkspeed, many wonderful images are introduced (nissan, pininfarina, etc.). But it is not easy to achieve such level of output.
For me, the main purpose of rendering is a check of shapes, therefore, Hypershot is enough.
I'm using CATIA and Rhino. Sometimes I use Alias by the work-related matter.
Any software can do the same thing though there are a few differences . However, if it is only a point of surface modeling, Alias might be better than CATIA FreeStyle Shaper. (I think that the arrangement of the control point of Alias is more obedient. CATIA is a little tricky. )
Alias can make it easily in the flow of large surfaces. However, I think that CATIA is faster and easy to improve accuracy for detailed shape.
I do modeling by the same work flow on any software.
Create cage by curves, create 4-sided surfaces, adjust surface volume and flow by CV modification, etc..... It is a very general procedure.
Because it is possible to make with the Bezier surface of single-span, and the history can be used, the adjustments are easier than Rhino.
The attachment is initial cage and rough surfaces.
Vray or Brazil for Rhino if you want to do some good renders. Probably overkill though if all you want is to check volumes.
Nice work.
Will you be adding any details?
Probably Virtual Shape Research will release modeling tools in beta for Rhino that will help quicken CV modification before the end of this year. Also they have a Real Time Renderer and VSR Analysis which works great for checking shapes and volumes.
Hello Hirahira. Proportions look nice. Well done.
What modules did u use for modelling in catia? Generative Shape Design and Freestyler? Did u use any of the ICEM tools that come with V5R20?
Why on earth you use rhino along side Catia? LOL, sounds like heresy to me.
And PETTER (mate), why wouldnt Catia be good for surfacing, when it is arguably the most powerful 3D available?
All cars that are modelled by most companies in Alias, are after rebuilt in Catia. It s standard procedure.
CATIA rocksssss. It s a bit tricky and has many secrets. Anyway, it s always down to the modeller. What matters, is how to know how to model something, and any top of the range 3D app (alias, Catia, NX, PRO-E) will do the job pretty well.
Congratulations again on your modelling, and for using CATIA V5, which is not seen many times.
@raven: yes, you're right and i know that... i was only saing that most users start with alias or similar for designing the surface flows. Never seen a proper car design modeled in catia from scrap.
By the way, where the hell have you gone? i got news to share
74j4,
Thank you for information.
Dynamic section analysis of VSR seems to be convenient. Real time render seems to be also good.
The reputation of VRAY seems to be good in this forum. I will try it some day.
ravenzep,
I'm using GSD and FSS.
I have some dissatisfaction with the function of CATIA FSS. (I'm completely satisfied with the function for a mechanical design.)
The display of Zebra and the surface curvature analysis is not so good (for my eyes). To supplement the part, I'm using Rhino together.
I've tried ICEM Shape Design on the other day. It is amazing! These problems seems to be solved by using ISD.
Personally, it may seem to concentrate on the concept styling more.( like ICEM STYLE that had been developed before.)
However, it is a very good tool. (excluding the price. :o)

ravenzep FYI, Alias, Rhino, Catia, NX, Pro-E, Solidworks, and etc. Is... far... from 3D. They are NURB software which doesn't apply 3d unless converted into polymesh.
