Hello, hope somebody can help, I used the production shaders in max for MR, followed dmmultimedia tutorials and one in zaps blog. Unfortunately no probe hdr is available, so i tried a jpg preview hdr for learning. Thing is i'm getting bad reflection and reflection is not sync with the sample backplate from hdri-locatrions, question is how do i fix this? is there a way to rotate the environment? i've tried rotating it at the bitmap panel but doesn't work. Thanks to anyone in advance.
not bad man, move the car a bit so it's riding on the road, not on the edge an i guess the shadows need some work as they are too dark imo, see the background, there is almost no direct lighting that will make such shadows
try making a grid on the hdr labelled A1, B2, etc.... and check it on the car for reflections. If u have same grid on backplate, will help to match one and the oother. Just an idea.
@P2sta: Thanks for the critz, appreciate it. Did some re-rendering to correct it.
@ravenzap: Thanks for the tips, will try that. I think i got the idea on environment reflection match, turns out i was doing it wrong, rotating and over-rotating the wrong slot on the U/V, seems -1 to 0 to 1 will do.
Just need to practice on the lighting and shadows.
Thanks again ravenzap, i'll turn this into a rendering thread now, here's another try with my golf1, been working on this for 2 yrs now on and off. this is my 1st render of it, still not finish model. c&c's welcome. Rim is temporary, thinking of a better rim to put in.
Hi, it isn't bad, but..
the shadows aren't so good
the wheel material doesn't looks good... looks like too reflective
the perspective looks strange
and i would fix a bit the lighting too
keep working... it is a really nice model
Thanks Qualt for comment, regarding wheel mat, actually the photo i copied the rim from is also reflective only older. the perspective i think is ok, 20mm lens is used on the back plate photo, i think i matched it with correct camera in max. the rest, yes needs more work. Thanks i try to make this golf1 really accurate.
Hi, now it looks better
but some things keep being strange
I prefer the before illumination tone... and also looks like it isn't illuminated at all, check the rear of the white car and seems that it isn't illuminated
the rims look strange, in my opinion if they are chromed should reflect more
and i would try with the orange/gold paint for the main car, it will stand out more
keep working you are improving it
P.S.: about the perspective, i think that it is 90% ok, maybe it is just a little fix... but is my point of view... i don't know how to explain it well is like is ok/strange at the same time... maybe the roof shape confuse me...
