    new processor

    Hi, i wanna know if AMD Athlon II x4 640 3.0 Ghz is good for modelling something in Maya or 3DMax?

    your question is a little bit relative. There are lots of better processors

    personally i would prefer an Intel System!

    Intel i3, i5 or i7 takes you far. The later ones is with four cores.

    I'd say go with Intel... they have better multicores performance than AMD now days.

    I think for modelling purposes the absolute power of the processor isn't making a big difference. For rendering afterwards of course it does If you are on a budget side at the moment the AMD hexacore processors are best for the buck but this will change as soon as Intel sells Sandy Bridge quadcore processors.
