Thanks for all the kind comments guys, i appreciate it.
@Duron; Thanks, yeah i'm working on waaaay too much atm haha, but this has priority for reasons that will be later be cleared up. Anyways it's strange you don't like the proportions, becaus they are almost the same as the current gallardo. It has in big lines the same shape also (place engine, interior, front window place etc) and it is actually a bit wider then the current gallardo. Same wheelbase and lengt and height. So maybe it are the angles, idk. Or i just screwed up the design hehe.
@Adovz: thanks man
@Gnasty: Thanks, actually when you look at the sesto elemento, it has lots of creases running over the body, but all surfaces are quite round. But tbh i don't really like the sesto elemento, i like the current gallardo superlegerra more. And when you look at that one it has not that much hard lines and lots of rounded surfaces (for a lambo). So i guess it's pure a choice of taste, as i like the current gallardo i stick a bit more with rounded lines. Tho i have some new ideas for the rear that actually go a bit more towards your suggestions, so stay tuned
@Gabi Hantig; Thanks. Well i actually like the what smaller cars. They look a bit more aggressive imo, a bit more playfull. So i wanted to stick with that
@panesar; Thanks. Well like i said to Duron, it's completely build over the current gallardo, So i don't know why they look too big to you, but they are the same as the current gallardo.
@SvdM; Thanks, I think it's pure a personal thing. The point for me is that the thing i like 3d for, is the challenge to make something that isn't real (but cg, made by you) look just as good or even better then in real life. So it's kind of a game, you versus reality. And the best way to do this is to make something that has been made in reality, and try to make it look just as good or even better. See if you can beat reality.
But when you make a concept, for me the challenge is out of it. You can make it like everything you want. I see so much concepts that aren't even possible in real life. It's seems a bit useless to me, no offence to anyone.
About the question; yes i use smoothing groups, it works so much easier. You can easily change things without have to redo all the chamfering etc etc. I try to chamfer everything if the object is completely finished.
@ Ravenzep, Digital eyes, w0rx, Equinox, PBenjamin, P2Sta; Thanks.
Erik you're completly right and the proportions could be exactly the same..
you have to consider that the elements are different which gives always a different look. so even if its the same proportions the car could look smaller or bigger.. thats the fake effekt...
i noticed that on the new BMW 5Series - the car looks from far away like a 3Series but from near it gives a bigger feeling - thats because the elements are in same proportions.. so if yuo just look to your hood and compare with the original gallardo - your one makes a feeling like i explained before.. the gallardo has small eyes and the holes of your hood are big... i dont want to say it looks bad - but thats just the fake effect. hope you'll get what im trying to say mate
the challange of a concept is to find the best mixture of all components.. you can design everything you want but it should also look good. therefore a design process takes years (2-3) to find the best solutions etc..
its hard to design a concept only virtually but you're doing great so far!
I think you shouldn't make it wider, neither make the wheelarches smaller. I love the slightly chunky look, mixed with the sharp lines that is so characterizing for Lambo's. Keep it up, love your work
You are right Duron, so i changed the hood (again, is like the 4th time) and now it's a bit too dull imo. So it's gonna get some changes anyway but well it gives a better look overall to the car imo. Some surfaces are rebuild and some things are changed. Also a preview on the new back.
Now hood has more classic appearance but it suits well. If these shapes in front will be headlights it will be handsome mixture of F458 and Gallardo Imo, Rear has regular style and it is ok. If you have time maybe try something more wicked. Cheers!
Edit: @Luis & Salim... I thought I would be the 1st :P lol
So i decided take the rough shape and start working on some details to get a better view on the final product. I started at the front and i am somewhere halfway with working out the base and started to work out body areas. At this point everything is still done with smoothing groups, this so any changes in the future will be easier to do.
I made a small adjustement to the hood to make a bit more aggresive like all of you said. I like it now, so i hope you guys do too
