There is something on the door, looking like diffuse black spots that makes the door look bumpy.

This last render, something about the carpaint not appealing to me, maybe its just the lighting.

Here is what I think is my final studio setup 1, I know there are some arthefacts and noise here and there but overall I am satisfied , if you compare this to my previous studio image you'll see a great improvement, at least I think so

KiRO, you should consider on capitalizing on the second to last
render. Seriously, there are so many wicked renders you can formulate
with the outdoor garage scene; try searching for references on

    10x guys.
Duron 10x for the advices I always appreciate your comments, about the materials I would say that the render settings need work, all that noise on the tires, rims, shadow line and chrome bits in the indicators is from render settings, materials have like at least 20 subdivs. Currently I am using Irradiance map for primary bounce with settings set to high and NONE for secondary bounce, I would appreciate any advice in the VRay render settings to improve my image.
For the studio I never intended to make a duplicate of the original BMW studio mainly because it will be almost impossible as I explained earlier the "REAL" studio has TONS of post production (just notice the shadows they are so wrong and all other stuff is not logical ) which I am not good at, so I think it can't be acheived only trough max and VRay alone so I am happy with my setup just the quality that bothers me
DarkHorse could you explain what you mean by capitalize and formulate I didn't quite understand what you mean

Turn off any GI in studios.. you dont need it

the production images were often images from more than 1 shot.. best example i can give on the tires.. the cam has the same position, but the photographer takes more pics with different lightings on the studio, later you can mix them all together (working with layers).

i dunno what you mean by the materials but they need work, the headlights for example, just compare with real, the chrome dont look like chrome. the paint needs a little bit more shiny, metallic look - check reference where the bright reflections are. if you have questions just ask..

great, the splotches etc from the gi are gone

just lower the car a little bit and check the sidewall again (shape) see attachement.

Suggestion to you: Turn off the shadow of Light that bounce/reflect off the M6. Use only "Global" light with small intensity/multiplier i.e. omni or 3ds max dome light at 1 to 3, unchecked affect diffuse. this will give u better shadow in studio. it ll reduce render speed dramatically.

You're getting there.. keep on working....
