F430 rear bumper / diffusor problem

    hi everybody.

i am a the stage of splinecaging the f430 (05-08) and i have a poblem with the rear bumber.
i am working with the well known blueprint postet at scratchedmadecars but this has some errors at the bumper section.
    (in my eyes)

picture1. anyone knows that angle? 90? or less?
picture 2. original diffusor , as i see there is a straight end.
picture 3. blueprint, a small difference there, i think that is false, also the sides are straight down, i think the have to be angled, see picture 4.

    what u think about?

pic 1 and 2 is correct on the outside.. if you look close at the 2nd pic you see the vertical element on the outside is curved... it goes down and back to top and then it looks straight.. the inner element is wrong.. should be straight as the 2nd pic..

you should now that all the blueprints are never correct.. (100%) so its really important to work close to reference.. so in this case you have 2 great pics which you can use..

that bp is based off someone's model, don't use it, it's inaccurate in a few places. This one is more accurate, but you can see the res on it.

    http://www.smcars.net/forums/attachm...rrari-f430.jpg

You might need to register on that site to see it. But yeah what Duron said, the bp's for this car are crap, and using refs is your best option, and make sure you use the same model of car (as in there's a few variations on it, very subtle, but it makes you feel like your model is inaccurate). I might have some refs of the diffuser lying about from when I made this model, will upload later if I find them.

    i´ve checked the bp pan3sar,

its just in that size available, but i found this one (damn, why that late) : http://www.smcars.net/forums/attachm...0-2005-430.jpg

i will try to switch the bp and than i tix what is inaccurate.

edit: i checked the bp i posted, it got massive issues with the centerline. the print is not middled out. front an rear view dont match in height at major lines. not very useful. my original bp does. yes it got inaccuracies but they can be handled by eye...i hope..

pan3sar, could you tell me were you spoted more issues?

^^ that one looks free hand to me, or hand drawn rather. I can't remember exactly, but I'm sure the front bumper had issues, the curvature around those vents was wrong, and I think headlights not sure on that one though.

    jap, pan3sar,

after view at this piece of ....drawing more things popped in my eye. the bulge over the headlight in direction to the mirrors are way to flat, the front view has to be rotated to match better. i wont use it. i stick to my bp i used since start. even if it was made of an model, its the best i´ve found yet. some problems but i think i can combine the in areas that not correct. at the end its a mixture from both and eyes.

yeah fair enough, that seems the best thing to do if you've done a lot. Here's some refs of the diffuser.

maybe in 1-2 weeks i will open up an official wip with some complete splines. unfortunately i just got on the weekend time to work on that beast, so there is not daily update. anyway the forum hears from me, i will need qualified crits and i know here are some hardliners around :D

That's the centre line of the car? The hood curves and reaches its maximum height in the centre.

    hello pan3sar,

that this is the centerline i was able to figure out :D but i cant believe that the hood is at some points as high as the "bulge" were the lights sitting in.
i thought the hood is noticable lower than the front-fender-height

yer that line is wrong it's too high, but it does flow like that. I've attached how I did it in my model, it's got some flaws, an old model with so many things I would have done differently, but you should get the idea how the line should be.

    thanks for sharing Pan3sar!

with every week i look at refs and the bp i detect differences, some are obvious others rather small.
i try my best to avoid at least the big once.
i think i get the cage done till weekend, then i´ll open up an official wip thread, were my work i´ve done so far can be discussed.
