Hey, I am new here and decided to give it a shot at photorealism for this project.
These are my goals:
1) Accurate high poly Carrera GT model
2) Studio render set up with HDRI lighting + reflections stills
Never attempted high quality renders before and will try to finish under 3 weeks tops.
I have modeled pretty far into this one for about a week but realized once joining this forum my technique wasn't professional enough for these kinds of projects. So I decided to start over fresh today with a whole new spline reference approach that I think will help a lot!
here are some splines I worked on which willl be the base of this model.
Note: Looking around the forums I noticed the base mesh of the cars do not need to be that heavy to be accurate, however changes in direction require heavy edge loop density. In order to achieve a good mesh flow the model needs to be broken down before smoothing (extracting panels) only after an even mesh is achieved all around.
I will re-start after lunch.
Some more work done to the mesh and It's looking really smooth, I personally don't see problems with it yet, but then again this is just the mesh overall shape.
man, take your time I work on my cars more then a year for a car to get it right I know it's super slow but in 3 weeks you can't get it right with your current skills! so just don't rush and take your time 3 months will be better timeline!
as Dave said, post some wireshots, so we can see how you are modeling...no renders, just shaded wire viewport grab
@dmarques1177 - Please, listen to P2sta, he's like the wise old man of this forum. These threads read like a book - top to bottom. Also, for many people here (even I) English is a second language (or third or fourth), so ravenzep might have chosen a word that isn't necessarily the best one to use, but he probably meant well. But keep up the good work and we'll follow and advise and learn.
@ravenzep - We could all do with each other's help here. Isn't this what these forums are for (or should be for), so don't go I don't care what the others said.
@Shogunato - I know dmarques1177 can use your help especially
Useless comments?.... I m not even going to comment. You just joined this forum, hence you show some education. But you dont know that word. I can t help you son.
@SvdM.....This microcefalus deletes all posts in thread, from one day to another.... You actually think i have time for stupidity?. Neither patience mate.
@P2sta..... You are absolutely right. Doesnt that suck, when u are trying to be nice and show some light? How ungrateful to say the least.
It s not nice to be not nice....But sanity has its limits.
man, i'm not sure it's a good idea to post just in the first post, now the comments that has related to the posts that are deleted doesn't make sense
I will just post normally then, but I think it would be helpful for newbies like me to see quick reference.
As for the deleted posts those were wires from the old model and I didn't want to get you guys confused as I started over - I guess I erased some useful information on how NOT to start lol.

Thanks man, I can't really tell but your avatar looks an awful lot like the front of a special edition Carrera GT - it is an awesome car

Yes like I always say - nobody ever listened their way OUT of a job
English is my second language as well - as for the comment I will just let it slide
I much rather look to produce work like I see around here.
I guess some of you are interested in what I have so far so here is where I am at currently:
I think I found an elegant solution for the front of the car / headlight area so I moved on to the side vent/door - it's been really hard keeping everything nice and clean and I'm sure there are some minor bumps to clean up.
