Its my first post here. I'm a product designer have some experience using Rhinoceros. I had made lot of product modelling, small things like lego pieces and now i think i know enough to start modelling something really big.
So, i will give a shot on car modelling. I really love cars, its why i choose product design in first place.
The car i will try is this : chevrolet camaro ss convertible.
I do not think myself as a master in rhinoceros but certanly i have some skills. I'm not a noob anymore.
This is a good choise ? From 1 to 5, what do you think is the dificult level ?
Ok. It is the first post... My tip Neither 1 nor 5 !!
Start making something and post images here (read how to) so someone could tell. The word "nurbs" lights always more interest here and around.
My personal opinion is that Camaro is a redundant model on the web (with polys too), so, if you need some headline ok, it could be a good start, but...
as you are not a noob anymore, why don't start with your "all brand new concept" ? Even a rough oval egg with 3 or 4 wheels can evolve in something special
if you want.
Let's see on of your work (not car) with some wires and srfs quality...after that someone will tell you more.
I agree with boja here. I too studied ID and generally I rather like to apply my own ideas to 3D space rather than copy another person's ideas / design. I think you will agree. If you however wish to just see how the workflow in Rhino works in terms of modeling a car, before you actually model your own, then search for a Rhino car tutorial. This is an old one: http://www.suurland.com/tutorials_newbeetle.php but he's good.
YES. I agree with the 2 posts above. Good advice. And i wouldnt jump immediately on 3d and start modelling from zero. I would do some simple sketches ( or good ref pics), just to get rough ideas, some guidance, and then the 3D will be more easy going, more natural.
Wish you good luck man !
P.S. Hi boja....Long time no see
The point of the camaro is modelling something with lot of references. Sure i want to do my own car designs, but its not like doing only a sketch.... design is not drawning. this project is more about study how is the workflow of modelling class A surface in rhinoceros, with lot of curves.
I change the camaro convertible to the new camaro because i found the kodg tutorial with this model and some refs. I'm not following the tutorial exactly, its more like when i don't know how to do something i go in the files and search.
I think maybe in 2 or 3 days its done, i already started as you can see :
First i'm having some trouble with the "manual fillet" on the back side of the car. In the tutorial kodg do a trim and them do like a manual blend... but here its just looking like sh%!#!it ! I will back to this later...
