    Lamborghini Countach 5000QV

Hi all, I have modelled a couple of cars before but wanted to model a car with input from everyone so I can get rid of any silly techniques I have. Or if generally anybody can give me any advice?

I have decided to model a Lamborghini Countach 5000QV as it is a classic but not many models seem to be done of it.

Anyway, please have a look at what I have got so far, I want help/advice on how to deal with this kind of situation at the front. I need all these support lines to get hard edges but I don't want them running along the car. Some people say ngons are the worst thing imaginable and some say they are ok now and again. any suggestions?

I don't want to ruin your motivation but maybe the countach is not a good idea for 3rd or 5th car, or even a car that should be modeled polygonally, the countach has many dents and holes that will be hard to model with polygons, for me the countach should be modeled with NURBS (Rhino, Studio Tools etc.). Also try keeping the mesh more even, by even I mean the mesh should be consisted of mostly square like polygons of roughly the same shape, form and size where possible, and try avoiding 3angles and n gons with n>4 like you did on the chamfered edge (I circled it in the attachment)
    Anyway good luck

Thanks for the advice. I understand what your saying about using nurbs. Unfortunately I have not learnt nurbs that much, but do plan to in the future. But I do not see why it cannot be modelled with polys, with enough polygons anything can happen!

I know the ngons are frowned up, but I wanted methods of getting round this. I did that quite quickly and to a certain degree it looks good when smoothed so why is there a problem with ngons?

Why don't you want to let them run alongside the car? I mean, you are modeling the car piece by piece right? You can let those edges run along the hood, I don't really see a problem..

This can be modeled in polies. I think it wont be unusually hard. Looks like a descent start, but you should try not to use gons with more than four sides. However in that particular spot it looks okay, but do a reflection test to be sure. If reflections looks clean, there is no reason to fix it

    Keep it up!

Oh and by the way, I love this car, will be a pleasure seeing this be modeled.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I suppose as it will be done in sections they won't be running the whole length of the car. I just wanted to see how other people did it, because when I look at other cars I just don't seem to see as many support edges as I put in. Maybe I don't just look close enough, maybe I need to model cleaner! The reflection test is a good way of checking, hadn't thought of doing it like that.

Anyway, this is a car I love aswell so I want to be able to put as much detail in it as possible and get the materials and everything just right. So keep the comments and criticisms coming so I can do this car justice!
