    BRAWLER (Camaro Concept)

I'm kinda new to car modeling and also new to this community. I hope people here would help me grow as a good car modeler.
Ok now i had this idea of modeling a concept and i chose Camaro and changed it a bit. I know its not as good as other concepts here but i gave it a shot. Any sugestions and corrections are welcome. And please excuse my bad english.
Below are some clay renders of what i have as yet.
    Regards

ya i forgot, i have one more question. I'm presently using 3DS MAX 10 and i want to engrave some text on the mesh (alloys). Just like the Hamann alloy header image on the cg-cars front page. Is there some special method to that??? I've heard about adding such details with splines but never figured out the way so please if any one can help.

hi... eee.. did you notice that you had open a thread with this car before? HERE ...
anyway.. to help you more please show as some wires (unsmothed ones), and also, as it is a new design, show as sketches (drawings) of it, to know which way are you going to.

I tried to delete the thread but i did'nt find a way. So now i want it to go nice and slow so that i can learn somthing. Sry if im wasting out somthing due to this.
okay for the wires i will render out some wire sketches.

Why two threads for the same car?

Just an FYI - doing this will not gain you friends. It is a lot cleaner to keep it all in the same place. That's just the way it is. Serious or not.

About your spline well you could always you boolean operations - there are literally hundreds of tutorials online for that - just google it. Or you could always use a much denser mesh and use splines as a guide and cut into the wheels manually.

If you want critique post up some wires otherwise we cannot really see what you are working with. Also they do not need to be rendered wire frames - it is often better just to use a screen grab. You can do this by pressing PrtScr and pasting into photoshop. Alternatively you can just go to tools in 3DS Max and select capture viewport. Whatever works for you.

As far as the concept goes for me, well I do not like modern American cars so it's not for me but that is just a personal things. Also a technical viewpoint here - it is not really a concept more of a body kit for a Camaro. If that is what you are going for then please ignore what I just said

well it is a good start but... looks more like a tunning than a re-design
it is not bad... but my advice is:
sit in a chair... concentrate yourself... and draw ... and draw... and draw... until your concept get clear in your mind..
you can help yourself updating the car shape... but it is better to have it clear...
now i like the side of the car and the back... but in my opinion the front have something that doesn't fit with this type of car... it is an american, a MONSTER!.
anyway keep working, and clearing your mind...

Really sorry Dave. This won't happen again. And yes from now onwards i would rather use screenshots instead of wire renders but for now i have some rendered wires already so i'm posting them.
And for that boolean thing, i had the technique in my head but booleans give me a lot of trouble when trying to optimize them for smoothning. Anyways i would go for another try.

Thanks Qualt. Drawing is somthing i'm not very good at but ya i've been trying and keep on trying.

    Here are some wires:

I was thinking to switch over to max 11 or 12 from 10 so can anyone tell me any serious advantages of doing so as far as modeling is concerned???

Change to max 2012, if you like max. Viewport performance has increased a lot. That s a good reason.

ok it is not too bad,
about the boolean you are doing it inverted. First you have to smooth the mesh and then use the boolean... But i recommend you to "finish" the model, and do some back ups before doing that, because there are no step back after you did it.
    keep working

Come on Qualt - you know me better than that. I wasn't being rude.

@bharatnag - mesh isn't too bad particularly if you are still fleshing out the shape and major details. Some of the better guys on this site will tell you that working with a denser mesh will allow you to have more control over certain areas of your model. I can see that you are improving which each model so stick around man - you will pick up a lot on this site.

    Thanks Dave thanks 3davt.

    @ 3davt
the biggest mistake i made was not to see the car technically but just go ahead and model it. Now that you have commented on the brakes and the vent, even i'm a bit confused so as why did I put them there. I saw some great detailed alloys and brakes here so i decided to change the wheel setup and model out a bit complex wheel. The only thing that was bothering me before was poly count, I was afraid that increasing poly count would give me troubles. But now i want to give it a try.

For the front I've had quite a good number of dislikes so i would think of that too. As Qualt said i should try draw first.

Below is a previously modeled front part but it was worse than the present one i guess??
