If you like it and wanna work in nurbs.... Try Alias or rhino. You will be a lot better with those than nurbs maya, for traditional nurbs workflow. Start with rhino first (it requires less nurbs knowledge, and is fast to work with) to get a flavour of it. I think you will like it.

helloooooo guys small update... really small but first@mcdronkz im new to nurbs, for me producing a clean surface is all i need for now with as much details as i can put into it, i kno i cant get it all in or all right at the moment cuz i havnt the skills needed but its a learning process and for me nurbs beats polygons on hard surface modeling :P so in the end its preference i guess, well back on topic, ive been playing around with the stitch tool, and using the tangency option to make a more seamless transition amongst my surface, the first pic is without tangency and the second is with tangency, lol thought the latter came out worse, i figured why so ill correct it and try harder, like beacon1 said, if i wont be able to do it all in nurbs get it into the best basemesh ull find lol. so im working on a level of uncertainty but having fun nontheless, but that doesnt me im not working for the best model i can produce evaaaaaaa

o p.s. the front is extremely sharp i will fix that also lol

The PDF booklets that come with rhino are pretty complete, and will explain everything you need to know about rhino.
Youtube has many tuts too. Rhino is an extremly simple program to use. You will be fine quickly.

    Good luck!

some extra infor, both surfaces are trimmed, and a freeform fillet between them
    thnks in advance guyes
when i studied alias studio tools and "came back" to maya it was world of difference in terms of "UNDERSTANDING OF CONCEPTS", maya to say "literally" has all the possible nurbs, nurbs editing tools that can make anything...it is only due to "gross" nature of the maya documentation that is so limited in terms of educating a user to its "very own tools" that many (even) high end users end up frustrating n confusing and quitting nurbs workflow n choose to work with traditional polygon box modeling, maya documentation over the years hadnt been improved at all, its is very basic

and had i not went to AST interface (curiousness to learn the package) i wouldnt even be able to tell whats align surface tool literally does to two surfaces in maya, over there is very well explained along with abundance of tutorials n documentation thats constantly updated ...

INDEED CGI IS TOUGHER THAN INDUSTRIAL DESIGN, user lives in both worlds of "precision & art n design"

the surface continuity, degree of curve (and or) surfaces, cutting, trimming, aligning surfaces etc are a snap there in ast, and its only due to know how of these tools can one use them efficiently...with maya it took me 1.5 years n more so n then also i never understood what "the align curve or align surface tool was used for"..nurbs are powerful subject that are always underestimated..AUTODESK WE NEED GOOD DOCUMENTATION FOR MAYA PRODUCT please. its not 1999 its 2011 now!

Are you saying that Maya has more powerful tools than alias for nurbs modelling? Sounds like it.

Ask not what AUTODESK can do for you, but ask what ALIAS can do for you. Actually, NURB foundations is all begin with Alias, They--Alias is trying to form pipeline between Studio tool and Maya. Other word, "introducing" polymodeler to world of NURB so whoever become interested, they can start advance themself into NURB and switiching or own alternative program called Alias Studio Tool. Unfortuately, probably this program fails after Autodesk bought out Alias, and everything leave as it is. So, Overall, I doubt autodesk know crap about writing nurbs, they are just a company with name earining/invest stocks.

Maybe PM Luis Nieve, I think he uses Maya NURB.
