Hey everyone, this has been a little project I have been attempting in Alias Automotive. I would love to have feed back on accuracy, and possible improvements. All the primary surfaces are not done yet, because I have not thought of a way to do them all yet.
In the state of Texas where I come from... I can tell you I have seen million silverados... Almost everyday. And I used to own 2008 Silverado Crew 1500 I traded it due to economy issues...
And To be honest, there are ton inaccurates. for one instance, the headlights, Your's too flat.... And The hood. I must remind you the 2500HD has different hoods betwee 1500 and 2500 -- see the attachment..... However...Your surface Look PERFECT! Click here --> SILVERADOS to see more reference... I think this is best place to visit.
And by the way HD stands for "Heavy Duty" V-8 with 450 to 600 hp depending on size i.e. Long bed 12 feet to 16 feet. You gotta love that truck.... SO Powerful where you can feel .5 G-force

Thanks so much equinox. I see that it is much more curved on the headlight. Those reference pictures are great! I will probably copy and past them in the viewport. I am drawing inspiration from ORB's and mxrz's curves layouts. I wish i had more then these 2 images to base my nurbs patches off of. But ohh well.. If you dig up any more pictures please feel free to post them.

Image 2) mxrz from SM cars
I have been having great luck with degree 2 X 2, or 2X3, or 3X2 surfaces. and using the curvature evaul tool like a fiend lol
Here's all curves, isoparms that I collected all reference in CGCars since then to study NURBS... now I am not into it anymore so enjoy.
Wow!!! this is really cool! Thanks equinox. That italia that person used 1 surface for the A B pillars, and roof. That's a great idea! And the Nissan GTR's front fender is constructed with 1 surface, that is nuts, i didn't even know u could do that!
Orb and mxrz really show their are no rules with the number of surfaces you can use, look their are a lot of them! That changes my world too.
I love your work equinox, and i really appreciate it. Time for me to shut up and get nurbing haha.
hey buddy, its looking good, i dont know much about accuracy as i have never seen that car in my life, but the modelling is good. you are on a very right track my friend, and looking at other wireframes, studying them and learning them is a great way to understand something. i used to do that in 3dsmax.. id have over 500 pictures of peoples wireframes..
keep going mate, im sure people will help you along the way,
and also have ALOT of alias wireframe pictures ill upload a few for you here, hope this helps mate.
and here is some more, was taken from a wip. i got alot more, let me know if you want me to upload them .
Yeah, i saw this one, but i have not seen any of the other's. This is great. I love how simple it looks, but it is so hard to do lol
2 methods: Method 1: use a lot of surfaces, Method 2: use as few as possible.
Have you messed around with curve network's in alias yet? curve networks are amazing for some things!! And, i figured out how orb got his wheel arches so perfect, it looks like he used a fillet with degree 3 X 3 bezier, that seems like the fastest way to get all curvature continuity right off the bat.
I got to save all these files, and just like load them on my phone and look at them when i am board lol
I found this vray scene setup too by Kramin. Got any others?
A quickie render test, Lot's more on there way. I am always hesitant to post on this site, because of the Abundance of bullies (reven). It seems like many users just love to harshly criticize, but never show their own work (reven). Then you have users like equinox who are professionals, and I always like hearing what they have to say good, or bad. So I have mixed feelings. But here it is anyway.
This got to about 80% accuracy, and that far exceeded my expectations, and I am pleased in how it is turning out. More renders will come, I still have to model just a couple more details.
really nice =) it seems to float a bit, dunno why, like missing some weight on tyres 4 ex...Nurbs modeling is a hard beast, and i always try not to give advices cos i know that i could be really wrong and make u guys lose a lot of time (as on nurbs there isn't a common way to model) but when poly speaking is really easier =) anyway, u got a really nice result! really really nice!
ps. Maybe i'll try adding a bit of "blur" on reflections, on the material itself, i dunno where u can find it in v-ray mats....very little, just to try....
There's nothing better than staring at a product you modeled on a screen getting into production and coming to reality.
Well, i added a bit of blur as suggested, cranked up the settings freaky high to get rid of noise. If i did this render again, it would be with a higher horizon line.
I will render this a lot in many different settings, should be sweet...
Tomorrow, i am going to probably make a mountain scene using mud-box, and do a .8 glossy render with a box there instead of the rock on that studio one. I need to put this truck like next to a river, or something off-road. Photoshop some water around it, who knows! Maybe, i will mudbox a moon like setting, and put it up there.
Don't know much about nurbs about how their surfaces should be joined, connected or anything like that, but i pretty like the result, just sometimes cars are not so perfect.
send us back to hell, cause we already filled our heaven

Yeah, but the only way to get it more perfect is to practice and keep learning / messing around. I rendered it on the moon. I was going to model a booster for the bed,but that's alright.
