I-Beam chopper - Rodderworld
Ok, it's about time i posted a wip. I was talking with a friend yesterday and he saw a pic i had hanging around that had a chopper frame with and I-beam downtube and thought it was a cool idea. Skipping to the end of this jolly narrative, i am now making a chopper for him. That said this is my first bike in 3ds so i am a beginnner at it in every sense of the word. I do have some chopper experience as a fan but i'm perfecting frame design techniques. The basic dimensions weren't my choice so i can't really change it too much but otherwise crit away. i have one clay now and more will come later.

swingarm equinox? nope, no rear suspension. this one's a rigid with 250mm rr tire, 18" rr wheel. I have more of the details but don't remember them offhand. The frame has a few more details since that clay. the next step will be making the brackets which should be tedious but ok. My big worry for this one is that i've never done an engine. that's why it's a wip. i'll need help when it comes to that. oh yeah, the reason it's called i beam is because i'm using i-beams for the downtube and seat post.

it's not an unheard of concept. choppers are like concept cars to me, it's about pushing the envelope.

Yes yes swingarm! Yeah I can see its more like I-beam than swing arm. shouldn't it be longer? Actually it doesnt matter since there are vareity type of I beam, but I like it longer, look more of beast.
One question, are you OCC fan? Edit: OHHHHH thats orange one looks hot... low handle bars... Always love it. |

i do watch american chopper but their work isn't to my taste. personally, i like radical, low and molded chopper. check out mike pugliese, matt hotch, covington's cycle city, jim nasi etc... this isn't my personal style. as for dimensions this is based on actual blueprints so i assure you it's long enough (in fact it's stretched.) i would just remind you that the i-beam part of it has nothing to do with the mechanics, it's purely aesthetic.

True.. OCC is just a chopper with Theme... I just like to watch how they manage their own invention to meet up on dead line, and I also like how mike giving smart ass talk or teasing his crew around, Mostly I love to see when Grouchy/moody Paul SR get into arguement with Paul Jr. and so on. ,
Mike Pugliese's bike is one of the HOTTEST bike I ever saw. I don't think Matt Hotch, Jim Nasi, West Cost Chopper, Martin Bros chopper, East Cost Chopper or Convingtion's CC's convienced me enought thinking their were hot than Mike's. I also remember guy doing the TBird bike, I forgot his name I would consider second hot bike. Anyway, I would be intrigued to see the result, I was thinking one day I could model old school bike, with sissy bar. Always loved those bikes sissy bar, look sexy huh? . |

those are fun to make. I experimented with one once. T-bird bike? maybe chip foose did the pilot of rides with a t-bird and later made an all aluminum bike to go with it. Old school is sweet, not me but i've always wanted to try making one. This chopper will probably have a hydraulic frontend because i'm too lazy to do anything fancy. However, if i get the time, i might give it a springer or girder for that old school look. ok, some updates, i've tweaked and added some structural members and braces.
