I'm Using Maya PLE at the moment, and its really annoying me with the big MAYA logo all over the renders, and the render which it comes with is rubbish.
Does anyone know where I can get Maya and a renderer cheap, or even better free because I really have no money at the moment
dunno if you are student or still go to school ? ...perhaps there is something like a studen licensed version in the UK? should be... (google should help)
otherwise there is something like blender or so, which is free but... urgh... not very comfortable/effective

Here's the real question...is a pirated version wrong if you
A. Did not pay for it
B. Cannot aford it.
C. You are a student
D. You are not using it for commercial purposes, just hobby art
Im having the same problem, I need maya in particular because i am hopefully going into a course in london at escape studios on maya. Unfortunately costs £10,499 so aswell as the costs of getting down there i will have to buy the software which is excessively priced for students like me. Not just that but i cant actually get it running on my pc. The PLE version locks up at the top when i try to click on anything, the menu bar goes grey and it crashes and only half the icons load. I think it might be a RAM thing.
My Spec is AMD Athlon XP2000+
512mb DDR Ram
Nvidia Gforce MX440 64mb
You dont really need to know the rest but the computer is very low quality ok. It runs fine though, was a low budget job made by me and it runs great, i run 3DSM7 on it no probs at all with relatively quick render times. Aswell as combustion and photoshop CS2 and Aftereffects. Why does maya have the problem? Any ideas

He is about to buy Max 8 and I'm diing to try it out :chinese:
