looks great man, only thing that hits my eyes, is the carbon on the pillar/roof area..it looks like the texture should be smaller, the pattern looks too big to me
Brilliant work, guy!
For me, it's perfect!
One day I'll model like this ^^
But, tell me.. How do you keep this perfectly straight edges ?
When I'm modeling, the edges begin to come bent and disorganized.
I really want to know, I'm looking for long time, but i can't find. ;x
Thanks!
I_M: Thanks man, really appreciate it!
P2sta: You are so right I'm fixing that!
LukeCeccon: Well there isn't just one way going about it, but I'd recommend that you start with a light mesh, making sure everything is straight before moving on and adding more edges. And make sure that you have control of you mesh all the way. There are several tutorials out there explaining how to keep a good workflow. Most important of all: Don't rush it, a good model takes lots of time to develop and just keep practicing. We were all having problems with bothersome edges and vertices in the beginning

Allright folks, I've started making the Salt Lakes version of the car. And personally I like this one much more. It's not finished though there's some inaccuracies here and there. Well new trunk, scoop, remade everything behind the doors really, new A pillars, new exhaust, made the radiator (thanks p2sta), new sequential gearshift and so on.
One thing I'd really appreciate some help with is how to make the classic hot rod wheels as seen on this Octavia, but usually on old hot rods. I just can't get the feeling right. So for now there's just white planes where the hubcap should be.

Oh and of course, still the same hdri and backplates from hdri-locations.com

Haha thanks man! Well I think I fixed the wheels now, removed some bumps and will remove some more. Maybe add some more detailing here and there and then of course put against the right background!

Thank you so much for the kind words, great to get such positive feedback! Well I just made the Salt Flats environment, I don't think I want to dirty up the car too much and I'm beginning to think I'm done with it now. ... feels strange! There will be some more renders I guess, but that's it

And by the way, I know the Salt Flats is a pretty popular render location, so I thought I'd share the ground maps with you. It's a displacement map and a bump map. If you use them, please just drop a line where I'm credited. Have fun!
