    supercar race crash

    so, i will try to make the cgtalk challenge, the race crash. dont know if i will finish it or not, anyway i start it...
    i take the supercar concept and add it on the track..
    keyframe for both car, and dynamics after the impact for the blue one..
    here s what i have so far...

    for now i try to have a correct trajectories, i will see later for car destruction..
    so, a tweaked one with better trajectories. will rework the dynamics at the end now.

    quick test render after have imported all in max.
    need to fix the motion of the car, and will start the final track model tonight i think, before starting with the smoke and explosion effect soon.

    the yellow car seems a bit floaty when it gets smashed in the side and esp when it rolls over but i know its a wip so good luck.

    Personally i like very much the way you have setup this animation. I like the way the cameras chase the car as it runs round the track.

    I think yes it does look like the cars are a bit weightless and the last flip at the end was very dramatic. I love the scene though. How long did it take to render this? I shall watch this topic closely!!!

    thx guys, comments are really apreciated.
    and you re right, that need some more weight at the end, and this last flip is really dramatic yeah!...
    will check that soon, to have correct motion.
    for the render time, that take like 1-2 min/frame, but with very low setting for AA and motion blur. think that will be the biggest problem at the end.
    but will cut all in layers to be able to handle it without too much problems.

    after 2 week doing nothing because of holydays... , i have restart the race...
    dont know if i will be able to handle it before the deadline, anyway here s the first car with logos and stickers.. the second one tonight after work..

    they both look great but the only comment i have is that normally these kinda race cars have painted rims which is mostly white.

    so a quick preview of the finished orange car, with some white rim. i think a better "racing" bolt will be good, but will see that after...
    the blue one is the same but with other logos.
    i dont have time to render it for now, 'cause i try to finish and make all the different layer before the deadline but i will make some better render after...

    the movie look good, but, if two car bump into the corner, the grey one, won't have to follow the yellow into the wall (it's not alike F1, they don't have front wing which can break so, the driver can't take the corner ??)

    well the way your car is shaped, i wouldnt be surprised that it probably does have alot of front downforce, but after saying that, if a car gets infront of it like it does, it may have to slow down a little more or slide off the track for a second or 2 if something else does break the downforce


    i have also been trying to learn how to.. animate like this, and im curious, did you teach yourself or is there a tutorial that can help me?
